Autograph letter signed, dated : [n.p., Weimar?, late August 1852?], to an unidentified friend, 1852, August.

Expressing pleasure with the "Wohltemperirte Wohlbekannten," saying that the recipient has as correctly grasped the problem as he has successfully settled it, adding that if he continues in the same spirit and style musical literature is assured of a useful work, saying that its tone sometimes gives way to scholastic Germanic polemic, at times assumes a pedagogic value it does not demand, saying that Wagner must create his entire base in Germany and that France or England are not important at present, asking for a copy of Lenz's book on Beethoven, asking if there is anything he can do to further the recipient's application for a position as organist in Berlin, mentioning Fétis, Mendelssohn, Bach, etc.
